Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Faculty Scientist in Cancer Epidemiology and Health Disparities.

The division of Population and Public Health is recruiting a faculty member at the full, associate or assistant level to join a highly dynamic and collegial research environment with state-of-the-art facilities and an environment that supports multidisciplinary collaboration. This call is open to faculty of all ranks, but preference will be given to candidates with established records of accomplishment of independent funding or a clear capacity to secure independent funding in the near future. The faculty scientist will be expected to develop an innovative and externally funded research program in population and translational science. Areas of cancer research emphasis should be aligned with the strengths of Pennington Biomedical, which include obesity, diabetes, nutrition and physical activity. This position is a collaborative recruitment with the Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCLRC), a statewide consortium.

Major Responsibilities

* Develop and lead an independent research program in cancer epidemiology and health disparities.

* Obtain external funding to conduct independent research projects.

* Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

* Participate in the education of postdoctoral fellows.

* Collaborate with other scientists in research.

* Represent Pennington Biomedical in statewide efforts to foster an interactive cancer research program, including interactions with cancer researchers at the LSU Health Sciences Center and the Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) in New Orleans.

Required Qualifications

* Doctoral degree or equivalent.

* Publication record commensurate with rank, and demonstrated potential or ability to obtain extramural research funding.

* Articulate a clear research vision.

* Provide evidence of publications and extramural research funding in research should be commensurate with years of professional experience.
