Position Summary
Patient Safety: Assuming the role of patient advocate while the patient is under the influence of anesthesia.
Skillful Clinical Judgment: Observation, knowledge, and assessment skills along with critical thinking skills are used to direct care and the activities of the team for the patient's best interest.
Communication: Must communicate effectively with the surgical team, the patient, and the patient's family.
Documentation: Must document all aspects of the patient's care in the operating room.
Equipment and Supplies: Must ensure that all equipment and supplies are available and in good working order.
Infection Control: Must ensure that all infection control policies and procedures are followed.
Medication Management: Must ensure that all medications are administered safely and correctly.
Patient Advocacy: Must advocate for the patient's safety and well-being throughout the perioperative period.

Qualifications/Experience
Education:
Graduate of an accredited RN program.

Experience:
One year of experience in direct patient care in an OR setting is preferred.

Other Skills:
Ability to comply with departmental on-call requirements.

Licenses/Certificate:
Current licensure to practice as an RN in the State of Arkansas (includes multistate).
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required (may be obtained within 3 months of hire)
Department Specific Requirements (may be obtained within 3 months of hire)

Meet departmental standards and competencies as evidence by department-specific documentation.
Document appropriately in patient medical records.
Attend scheduled departmental meetings and education.
Report safety concerns or events appropriately and participate in performance improvement initiatives for the department and facility.
Maintain professional working relationships with co-workers, customers, leaders, and providers.
Follow standard precaution protocols and abide by Infection Control procedures.
Provide care directed by providers in a compassionate, supportive, and respectful manner to families, patients, and visitors at all times.
Manage flow and throughput of patients through surgical department and procedure.
Observes professional ethic in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding person, financial, medical or employment of patients, families and employees
Participation in Regulatory surveys
Performs other duties as assigned or requested
