Job Summary
DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the Coordinator of Health Services is responsible for planning, managing, coordinating and implementing a comprehensive district health services program that includes health education, screening, testing, assessment and treatment; ensures compliance with applicable laws, procedures and regulations; assists principals with supervision of school site health services staff.

ABILITIES: • Ability to coordinate and carry out duties to achieve the goals and objectives of the District health services program; • Conduct health education, screening, testing, assessment and treatment; • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing; • Make formal presentations; • Provide leadership, guidance and training to staff; • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents and community members; • Use computer and related software to prepare comprehensive reports, presentations and other materials; • Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; • Make independent nursing judgment and determine appropriate course of action; • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; • Plan, organize and prioritize work; • Meet schedules and timelines; • Maintain confidentiality. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university. • Prior experience as a Registered Nurse through which specialized knowledge and understanding of health services in an education setting has been developed. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: • Possess and maintain a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing service as a School Nurse. • Possess and maintain a current health care provider Basic Life Support Certification. • Possession of a Valid California Driver's License. • School Audiometric Certification desired.
