Job Description Summary:

Responsible for the assessment and implementation of nutritional care plans for patients of Logan Health - Whitefish; interacts with nurses and physicians as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Conducts outpatient nutritional counseling; in-service education for LHW staff and physicians; and nutrition education programs for staff and the community. Responsible for Diabetes Education. Performs other duties as assigned.

Interacts with nurses and physicians as a member of the interdisciplinary team; and assesses and implements nutritional care plans for patients. (EF) Provides nutrition consults/education to patients when ordered by physicians. (EF) Conducts patient calorie counts for 3 days, or longer in exceptional cases, as ordered by physicians. (EF) Reviews menus to ensure accuracy of patient diets. (EF) Documents and completes work appropriately and in a timely manner. (EF) Maintains positive rapport and communications with patients, clients, and hospital staff. (EF) Responsible for Diabetes Education. (MF) Attends daily operations meetings. (MF)

Maintains awareness and understands the organization-wide compliance plan. Familiar with and adheres to LHW's published Code of Conduct which provides guidance and expectations regarding confidentiality, conflict of interest, billing, controlled substances, Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), payment for referrals, gifts, anti-kickback laws, safety and health, waste disposal, and compliance with antitrust laws, advertising and marketing, discrimination, insider trading and government requests. (EF) Reports any violation or suspected violation of this Code or other hospital policies or procedures to supervisor, Compliance Officer or through the compliance hotline. (EF) Attends and/or completes mandatory training regarding organizational compliance. (EF)

Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelor of Science or Advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major emphasis on foods and nutrition. Completion of American Dietetic Association approved dietetic internship or equivalent. Current membership in American Dietetic Association. Licensed by the Montana State Board of Medical Examiners to function as a Licensed Nutritionist. Maintains Licensure through continuing education. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and preferably Meditech. Minimum 2 years' experience in the field of dietetics. Registered Dietitian.

Desire: Serv-Safe Certification.
