INTERVENTIONIST

This is a school based position located at The Leah Chase School that focuses on the development and academic success of students. Under the administrative supervision of the Principal, the Interventionist will work directly with the teachers, Instructional Coaches, school administrators, school leadership teams, Central Office personnel and students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- To provide small group and/or individual instruction to targeted students in the areas of reading, language arts and/or mathematics;
- Utilize the district/school intervention matrix to determine students in need of tiered intervention support;
- Provide supplemental instruction to eligible students;
- Attend training in the appropriate model(s) implemented in the school;
- Keep accurate records of student work and interventions;
- Provide classroom teacher(s) and parent(s) with regular progress reports on targeted students;
- Provide supplemental instruction and plan appropriate activities for students in a diverse environment;
- Work collegially with faculty and staff;
- Assist teachers in developing action plans for students who are not achieving mastery;
- Interact collaboratively and productively with school site personnel;
- Create an environment that is conducive to learning and enhances students' educational experience;
- Analyze data from assessments and benchmark testing to drive instruction and instructional needs;
- Meet those standards of performance for his/her individual teaching assignment developed by the Orleans Parish Public School System. Those standards include the Louisiana Components of Effective Teaching;
- Adjust lesson plans to meet the needs of students in the classroom;
- Guide the learning process of students in the classroom toward the achievement of curriculum goals set by the Orleans Parish Public School System and/or appropriate federal guidelines;
- Assist the administration in implementing all Board policies;
- Achieve those objectives/activities included in the Professional Growth Plan developed jointly with the principal or assistant principal as part of the accountability process mandated by the State Legislature;
- Consult with administrator(s), colleagues, students and/or parent on a regular basis;
- Plan and supervise purposeful tasks for paraprofessional(s) and volunteer(s) assigned;
- Cooperate with administrator and/or department head in assessing the performance of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) assigned;
- Serve on and participate in professional staff committees/meetings required;
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor;
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures;
- Performs other duties as required.
Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Arts education or a related field;
- Valid Louisiana teaching certification required.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies.
$50,000 - $82,059 a year
Salaries begin at:
$50,000 for uncertified teachers
$57,500 for certified teachers + $1,600 board stipend
