The Unit Clerk assists the nurse in the provision of client care activities as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The position also provides clerical support to the nursing office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School degree or equivalent required; medical secretarial training preferred.
* Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.
* Experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred.
* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* Valid driver's license preferred. SCM certification (observer), CPR/First Aid certification required.
JOB DUTIES:
* Assist in the completion and data entry of all assigned medical information for the designated area/center (lab results, medications, immunizations and consults).
* Under the direction of the nurse, assist in the transcription of physician orders.
* Perform basic clerical functions (answering the telephone, copying, scanning and faxing of documents, inventory and ordering office and lab supplies, processing billing forms).
* Under the supervision of the nurse, ensure all client labs are completed per KidsPeace Lab Protocol. Schedule labs and inform staff of upcoming schedule. Assist the nurse during lab days with client lab appointments and complete all related documentation and necessary follow up.
* Complete and mail PCP letters as required by insurance providers upon admission, upon the start or discontinuation of a psychotropic medication, and upon discharge.
* Schedule admission physicals, follow-up appointments, and sick call with the family practice physician. Ensure new patient packets for external medical consultants are completed and sent to consulting office prior to the client's appointments. Prepare all other documentation for appointments.
* Maintain the office environment and workflow. Update nursing office bulletin boards, binder forms and information. Complete monthly infection control walkthroughs, maintain general office cleanliness and organization. Ensure all office equipment is in working order.
