Harborview Medical Center's (HMC) Sleep Medicine clinic has an outstanding opportunity for an ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant.
WORK SCHEDULE:
* Per-diem, Day Shift

* Specialized training will be provided to educate the practitioner in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders
* Training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia is available to enhance the practitioner's clinical expertise should this be desired
* The environment is rich in opportunities for learning as there is an active Sleep Medicine Fellowship training program associated with the center. Educational opportunities include a weekly didactic conference
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic sleep center independently evaluating and managing patients with a broad array of sleep problems including sleep apnea, insomnia, hypersomnia, parasomnia and circadian rhythm disorders
* Prescribe medications, positive airway pressure, and order appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., polysomnography, home sleep apnea testing, multiple sleep latency testing, actigraphy and maintenance of wakefulness testing) to evaluate these problems
* Support sleep medicine physicians by addressing patient related issues that require coverage while physicians are unavailable
REQUIREMENTS:
* Nurse Practitioner:
Master's Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
AND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
AND National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
AND ACLS certification
OR
* Physician Assistant:
Licensure as a Physician's Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA).
Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions.
