RECREATON THERAPIST

JOB OVERVIEW:The Recreation Therapist will design, develop, and lead a variety of group activities and programs based on Resident's individual abilities and preference to encourage and promote Resident participation. Successful candidate must be compassionate, creative, energetic and enthusiastic with the desire to enhance the quality of life of residents. Hours: Varies, must be able to work days, evenings and weekends9am to 5pmFull Time

• Endorses, complies with and interprets the philosophy, objectives, procedures, policies and code of ethics of the facility and the policies of the Recreational Therapy Department
• Maintains documentation and statistical reports in compliance with New York State code and facility requirements
• Maintain care and use of program equipment and materials
• Conduct therapeutic activities on and off unit as scheduled
• Attend Resident trips outside of the facility as per assignment
• Develop, implement, and adapt therapeutic recreation program relevant to Resident's needs and interests
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meeting to formulate individualized and measurable goals for Resident care plans
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Therapeutic Recreation

• BA/BS Degree or Masters Degree from an accredited college in Recreation Therapy or related field (CTRS, MT-BC or ATR preferred
• Preferably 2 plus years experience working in a skilled nursing facility
• Must be familiar with NYS mandated documentation
• Experience with MDS 3.0 and EMR a plus
• Must be computer literate and possess strong organizational skills
• EducationEntry Level (0-2 years)
