Responsibilities

As an APRN or PA with Ascension Seton Neurosurgery, you will evaluate emergency department patients, manage admitted neurosurgical patients in a hospital setting, see patients in outpatient clinic, and assist in neurosurgical cases in the operating room. You will be based out of Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin.

Position Highlights:

* Opportunity for extra shift pay
* Acute Care Certification is preferred for all NP applicants at the time of application
* APRN-First Assist Certification preferred and required to obtain within one year of start date

Responsibilities:

* Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.
* Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.
* Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
* Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.

Requirements

Nurse Practitioner

Required Credential(s):

* Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing
* Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing

Preferred Credential(s):

* Acute Care Certification
* BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)
* Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration

Education:

* Master's degree of Nursing required

Physician Assistant

Required Credential(s):

* BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90days) of hire date or job transfer date
* Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board
* Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of PhysicianAssistants (NCCPA)

Preferred Credential(s):

* Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Education:

* Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program
* Master's degree preferred

Work Experience for both APRN and PA:

* 2 plus years of experience in the field of neurosurgery is strongly preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
* 2 plus years of first assist in the OR is strongly preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
