Job Description:

The Certified Medical Assistant works under the direction of Licensed Healthcare Professionals within the confines of a jail or detention facility. Schedules appointments, maintains medical records information. Takes and records vital signs, prepares patients for examination, draws blood, applies and reads Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) skin tests. Enters medical, social histories and performs intakes and discharges on all patients to assist Healthcare Providers.

Required Skills:
  1. Knowledge of ICD10, CPT4 and HCPCS coding related to clinic procedures and physician billing.
  2. Highly effective communication skills.
  3. CRT proficiency and ability to type.
  4. Knows vaccine requirements for patients, newborns through adulthood for assigned areas.
  5. Knowledge in patient flow process, applicable per Clinic.
  6. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  7. THS/ CHIP
  8. EMR

Required Experience:

Work Experience:

One year of Medical Assistant experience required.

License/Registration/Certification:

Certified Medical Assistant Certificate required.

CPR required.

Education and Training:

High School Education or equivalent.

Completion of a Medical Assistant course required.

Other Requirements:

Pre Employment Drug Screening, Background Screening and Security Clearance required.
