OHSU Casey Eye Institute's faculty are responsible for many of the most recent advances in ophthalmology, which have revolutionized the diagnosis and treatment of many ophthalmic conditions. Advances in optical coherence tomography, ophthalmic informatics, corneal refractive, retina and pediatric eye care have been pioneered at Casey.

 

This is a postdoctoral research fellow position in the Sivyer laboratory at the Casey Eye Institute. The researcher will work within a highly collaborative team on a project examining glaucomatous synaptic dysfunction in non-human primate retina. This NIH funded project is in collaboration with Dr. Yvonne Ou at UCSF and Dr. Brad Fortune, Devers Eye Institute. We aim to use advanced electrophysiological, immunohistochemical, RNAscope, and spatial transcriptomics to identify functional and gene expression changes in early experimental glaucoma. The researcher is expected to have experience in neuroscience, a background in glaucoma research and an interest in learning the techniques described above. Programming and data analysis experience is valued highly and applicants are expected to be able to work well within team science settings across multi lab collaborations. The applicant must have a PhD or equivalent degree in biological sciences, preferably neuroscience. Diversity is highly valued at OHSU and within the Sivyer laboratory.   • Live tissue dissection, confocal microscopy, spatial transcriptomics.   
  • Electrophysiology and data analysis.
  • Presentation of their research at multi-PI meetings and research conferences.
  • Data analysis and manuscript preparation.

Ph.D. in Neuroscience or biomedical sciences.

 

Neuroscience laboratory, data analysis, patch-clamping, and some coding experience.

 

Must be creative, motivated, and enjoy working independently as well as in a collaborative environment.  Must also have excellent communication skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and ability to meet deadlines.  Ability to work independently; willingness to serve as a positive and professional role model.  Must have demonstrated a record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance in past and present.


Neuroscience or glaucoma laboratory experience preferred.
