Description

Job Overview: The RN and the LPN will apply professional nursing theory and render services consistent with the scope of practice for professional nurses within the State of North Carolina. Will perform a wide variety of duties relating to assisting the provider with patient care in an office type setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to, the following clinical areas:
  1. Implements, applies, and follows approved protocols and standing orders.
  2. Follows and applies all approved workflows.
  3. Provide age appropriate nursing care.
  4. Document accurately in the patient's electronic medical record all services rendered consistent with Boice Willis Clinic's policies and procedures.
  5. Prep patient for any exams that will take place during appointment.
  6. Assist with referral facilitation including for specialty care, imaging, or laboratory studies.
  7. Fulfill all medication reconciliation, education, prior authorizations and refills as needed.
  8. Reply 24 - 48 business hours to all patient calls or web encounters to include communications regarding results, new medication instructions, etc.
  9. Administers and documents the administration of medications, vaccines, and therapeutic injections - documentation in multiple systems may be required.
  10. Maintains supply, medication, and sample inventories per Boice Willis Clinic policies.
  11. Comply with all limits and requirements of position within the NC Nurse Practice Act. (www.ncbon.org)
  12. Comply with all HIPAA, OSHA, Compliance, and IT standards and policies.
  13. Supports Quality Initiatives (ACO, Meaningful Use, PCMH, and PQRS) by data collection and compliance of respected programs.
  14. Job specific tasks for each area within the Clinic will vary according to specialty of provider.
  15. Travel between offices may be needed if warranted.
  16. Other duties as assigned by administration and/or providers.


Position Requirements

Desirable Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  1. Two or four year degree from a nursing program
  2. Current NCBON RN or LPN License - required
  3. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  4. Excellent computer skills - Microsoft word, excel, and email - electronic medical record documentation preferred.
  5. Data collecting and entering skills will be essential
  6. Strong knowledge of medical terms and pharmacology
  7. Preferred knowledge of standard office procedures
  8. Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  9. Excellent communicate skills, written and oral
  10. Professional image in attitude and appearance. Maintain a professional, clean and neat appearance.
  11. Current CPR certification and show proof of renewal. ACLS and PALS may be required with certain departments - Obtain and maintain all other certifications as needed per departmental needs.
  12. No suspensions of NC nursing licenses nor any convictions of any serious crimes or felonies
