RESTORATIVE NURSE AIDE

A Restorative Nurse Aide (RNA) plays a vital role in a nursing home setting, focusing on maintaining and improving residents' functional abilities and quality of life.
- Assessment: RNAs assess residents' physical abilities, mobility, and overall functional status. They work closely with other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Implementing Care Plans: Based on the care plans developed, RNAs provide therapeutic exercises, range of motion activities, and other interventions to help residents maintain or improve their mobility, strength, and independence in daily activities.
- Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): RNAs assist residents with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating, while encouraging independence whenever possible.
- Monitoring Progress: They regularly monitor residents' progress and adjust care plans accordingly. This may involve documenting changes in residents' abilities or behaviors and communicating this information to the rest of the healthcare team.
- Providing Emotional Support: RNAs provide emotional support and encouragement to residents, helping them cope with any frustrations or challenges they may face in their rehabilitation journey.
- Maintaining a Safe Environment: They ensure that the environment is safe and conducive to residents' rehabilitation efforts, including proper use of assistive devices and equipment.
- Collaboration with Other Healthcare Professionals: RNAs collaborate with nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to residents.
- Education and Training: They may provide education and training to residents and their families on exercises, safety techniques, and other aspects of rehabilitation to promote continued progress and independence.
- Documentation: RNAs maintain accurate and thorough documentation of care provided, including progress notes, incident reports, and other relevant information, in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
