Position: Kinship Navigator

Location: Daytona Beach, FL

Salary Range: $42,000.00+DOE

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for working with Kinship Caregivers to support placement stability. This position will provide outreach and consultation to kinship families by linking to supports and community resources.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Makes contact with kinship families upon placement of children in the home to assess for resource needs and provides information on community resources such as WIC, food pantries, clothing closets, and the Early Learning Coalition.
* Ensure the family is connected to the Revenue Maximization Specialist to apply for appropriate benefits such as Medicaid, Food Stamps, and TANF funding.
* Makes referrals for therapeutic and daycare services for children placed in kinship placements.
* Ensures families are connected with other CPC liaisons such but not limited to: the educational specialist, clinical specialist, psych med specialist.
* Attend appointment with caregivers as needed.
* Maintains tracking logs of families and referral sources.
* Conduct kinship caregiver support groups.
* Provide kinship newsletter to caregivers.
* Refers kinship caregivers with trainings as appropriate.
* Assist with applying for Care Grants as appropriate.
* Assist with obtaining funding for extra-curricular or community programs as needed.
* Enter information into FSFN regarding contact and referrals.
* Maintain the kinship closet.
* Attend case staffings as needed.
* Attend community events as appropriate.
* Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, skills and abilities):

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to assess and problem solve quickly and make decisions.
* Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
* Knowledge and respect of socio-cultural characteristics of service population.
* Ability to make home visits and to travel.
* Skill in employing family-centered practice.
* Ability to assess appropriate intervention strategies.
* Knowledge of community resources, Child Welfare Dependency Process.
* Ability to understand and apply relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
* Ability to use and proficiency in computer software applications.
* Minimum of two years experience working with at-risk children and families.
* Experience working within the DCF Protective Services system, preferred.
* Knowledge of the Florida Administrative Code and Florida Statutes, preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in human services related field, preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

* Possess a current Background Clearance Screening Letter as required by DCF; and successfully complete the background screening requirements for Community Partnership for Children.
* If local travel is required, a Valid Florida driver's license and documentation of current automobile insurance, with $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability limit, is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee will work in an office/clerical environment. The employee will work predominantly seated with recurrent need to walk, stand, and bend from the waist. Occasional light lifting, stooping, and climbing may be required. Occasional local travel.
