JOB TITLE:

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide psychiatric and mental health services to students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assessment and management of health and illness states.

To do this, the clinician obtains and documents a relevant health history, performs a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, and diagnoses psychiatric disorders. The clinician then develops a treatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on biopsychosocial theories, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines. Psychotropic and related medications are prescribed based on clinical indicators of a patients' status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests as appropriate, to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status.

Coordinates referrals and ongoing access to primary and other health care services for patients.

Provide consultation to and seeks consultation from other health care clinicians to enhance quality and cost effective services for patients.

Maintains patient's electronic medical record and accurately documents each patient encounter.

Participates in medical staff meetings and roundtable presentations; maintenance and promotion of AAAHC accreditation standards; guidance to SHS support staff; guest lectures as need arises.

Regular, predictable attendance is required to perform the essential duties of this position

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Level Degree and 5 years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctorate of Nursing Practice and 5 years experience in the APRN role.
