Summary of Job Function

+ Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients; identifies a plan of care; implements and evaluates the care given

+ Provides direct and indirect care to patients and leads the patient care team toward goal achievement

+ Coordinates and directs care given by other team members

+ Addresses system issues to facilitate the provision of quality and efficient care

+ Delegates appropriately to other team members

+ Excellent communication skills, leadership, ability, time management and problem-solving skills required

Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure

+ A minimum of two years recent clinical experience in critical care required

+ Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required through the American Heart Association

+ Registered Nurse with a current State of New Jersey RN license

+ Excellent communication skills, leadership, ability, time management and problem-solving skills required

Job-Specific Requirements of Position (including, but not limited to)

+ Participates in discharge planning

+ Anticipates potential length of stay or discharge problems

+ Proactively involves the healthcare team to reduce length of stay and utilization of resources Participates in discharge planning

+ Completes admission assessment according to policy

+ Reassesses patient condition per policy

+ Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the plan of care

+ Assesses patient for the potential risk factors

+ Responds effectively in an emergency situation so that the patient s immediate needs are addressed

+ Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and actual or potential barriers
