**Job Summary:**

Coordinate, monitor, and maintain policies and procedures on coding and billing for physician services; assist with the development and maintenance of a uniform pricing structure, specific billing functions, and data management; perform administrative duties.

**Department Summary**

Our team of ophthalmologists and optometrists at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute treat a wide array of eye diseases that affect eye health and vision. We offer comprehensive care that includes primary eye care, vision screening, surgeries for conditions such as glaucoma and cataracts, and other treatments and surgeries for disorders of the eye.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Coordinate and monitor administrative details related to physician billing for professional services

- Review in-patient and out-patient charge documents to ensure capture of all professional charges

- Develop and review billing policies and procedures to ensure a uniform pricing structure

- Troubleshoot and correct any billing errors.

- Maintain expertise in all aspects of CPT-4, ICD-9, and HCPCS coding; coding and reimbursement issues; insurance issues and regulations; and documentation requirements.

- Prepare documents and maintain records for physicians income distribution

- Prepare and maintain financial documents as required

- Assist in the development of departmental revenue projections and budgets

- Prepare monthly and other revenue analysis reports.

- Provide analytical and administrative support to special projects

- Conduct space utilization and space inventory studies per designated procedures

- Conduct hospital bed census research per designated procedures

- Assist in evaluating appropriate computer applications for data collection.
