Under the direction of the ESC Director of Student Services and/or the District Director of Student Services, the Behavior Support Coordinator will provide training, support, and coordination of activities related to the implementation of positive behavior supports throughout the school environment. This position involves case management and the development of behavior plans for at-risk and students receiving special education services. The Behavior Support Coordinator will be responsible for assessing students with behavior issues; collecting data on students; working with teachers, counselors, and school psychologists to devise a behavior plan for the student; and evaluating the effectiveness of the plan. The Coordinator will train and support school staff on classroom management strategies and/or the implementation of behavioral strategies to ensure students are provided with the supports they need in order to access their curriculum in the Least Restrictive Environment. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, aides, and support staff to demonstrate best practices, strategies and techniques to enhance instruction for students with social, communication, behavioral and learning challenges; train and assist in writing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans; and complete other related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Special Education, or other social services/related field
2. Possess or be able to apply for an Ohio Department of Education license as either an Intervention Specialist; Education of the Handicapped; Ohio Pupil Services License; Counselor License; or Administrative License
3. Prior experience working with individuals with severe emotional disabilities preferred

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Knowledge of Ohio's Operating Standards for the Education of Students with Disabilities
• Knowledge and understanding of behavioral characteristics associated with behavior disorders - e.g. autism, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and other behavior issues
• Knowledge of FERPA and HIPPA
• Knowledge of current educational issues and best practices
• Knowledge of effective intervention strategies related to intervention for students with behavioral challenges
• Knowledge of mandated assessment tools
• Knowledge of community agencies that can support students with disabilities
• Knowledge of classroom management techniques
• Knowledge of problem solving processes and creative thinking skills
• Ability to coordinate staff schedules for training
• Ability to identify children's strengths and areas of weakness and implement a program to enhance their development
• Ability to maintain accurate student records
• Ability to observe and assess skills in all areas of development
• Ability to analyze and interpret assessment data
• Ability to evaluate related services staff members
• Ability to use technology as both a productivity tool and as a method of communication; proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google applicatioins
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with parents, students, co-workers, administrators, and public
• Ability to work with teachers to demonstrate ways of supporting students in the regular classroom
• Skill in effective group and individual counseling, family intervention, crisis intervention, development of home/school collaboration
• Ability to work with team to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate program progress and implement changes
• Ability to model ethical principles and democratic ideals for students and the community

SALARY/CONTRACT
Based on salary schedule and/or commensurate with experience and education.

• Contingent upon availability of district funding;
• Contract days determined by ESCLEW governing board;
• Other terms and conditions of employment as per the ESCLEW governing board policies and procedures or negotiated agreement
