Responsibilities

* Oversee all direct wound care activities to assure practices are consistent
* Identify, plan, implement, and evaluate skin care in residents
* Manage and treat specific skin disorders
* Coordinates weekly skin rounds
* Perform assessment evaluations using techniques including observation, and inspection
* Confer with the Care Planning Team in the development of the care plan
* Provide treatment for skin disorders within established wound care protocol
* Monitor the use of preventive measures such as inspection, turning and positioning
* Precept new nurses and demonstrate individual procedures to new nursing personnel
* Order and tracks the usage of supplies/equipment in prevention and treatment
* Assist in modifying the treatment regimen to meet the needs of the resident, in accordance with established medical practices, the regulatory guidelines and the policies and goals of this facility
* Provides information to resident and caregivers on prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve the general health and psychosocial status of the resident
* Participates in Performance Improvement program as assigned such as wound and nutrition committee
* Participate in the planning and conducting of in-service training classes concerning dermatologic nursing skills and procedures used within the facility
* Abide by the standards identified in FutureCare's Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan

Qualifications

* Must hold an active RN license issued in the state of Maryland
* At least 1 year of nursing experience required
* Must possess an active certification in wound care
* Experience with resident's skin care working in a skilled nursing facility preferred
* Proven leadership skills to assure smooth unit/area operations and quality resident care
* Effective communication skills to facilitate positive interpersonal interaction
* Ability to interact with others in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner
