Position Purpose The Advanced Wound Care Specialist_RN in conjunction with the Physicians and clinical manager, provides direction and coordination of wound / ostomy services to inpatients, outpatients, and their families and assures that patient education is appropriate to the developmental stage and age of the patients served. The specialist RN also provides support and education to the staff of Renown Health System involved in wound / ostomy and or lymphedema care. # # # Nature and Scope The major challenges of this position in accordance with respective professional scope of practice are: # # Coordinates the wound/ostomy/incontinence/fistulas/tubes/continent diversions. # Establishes and maintains interdisciplinary communication and team work with all other health professionals providing care or education to the patient. # Coordinates and gives inservices to promote current standards related to wound/ostomy/ and or lymphedema care. # Debridement including conservative sharp, enzymatic, autolytic, ultrasonic, and mechanical # Demonstrates the ability to apply comprehensive knowledge in the principles and techniques of current wound/ostomy/lymphedema management. # Practices cost effective patient care. # Complex Clinical: Counseling, urodynamics, bowel/bladder training, research/chemical cauterization, infection control consultation, topical medications, ABIs, surgilav, stoma marking site, pre-op and post-op ostomy teaching, consultation, pressure gradient support, stockings or wraps, initiates or recommends referral to appropriate resources. # Maintains current with advancement of procedures/techniques and standards of care through professional organizations, conferences, or continuing education. # This position is challenged to diagnose and treat human responses to health problems. The incumbent is accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and families. # When possible, the family or those significant to the family, are considered part of the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation efforts of the advanced wound care specialist. Position Purpose

Nature and Scope

Education:
