OVERVIEW:

The Nutrition Services Veterinarian ensures the highest standards of veterinary nutrition are established and maintained across General Mills, Pet Segment. In this role, you will represent the views of General Mills and Blue Buffalo brands externally at veterinary conferences, colleges of veterinary medicine, trade associations, and among key accounts. You will help develop and implement strategic initiatives further establishing BLUE Natural Veterinary Diet as a leader in nutritional therapy products.

This role is contained with veterinary services and collaborates with the professional services veterinarians who are accountable for developing business relationships with key decision makers to gain active recommendations of BLUE products to veterinary clients based on scientific and nutritional credibility. You will provide nutrition and diet expertise to high-impact veterinarians through virtual consultations and on-site training sessions. You will also partner closely with Veterinary Technical Sales team, responsible for increasing product sales and distribution of BLUE Natural Veterinary Diet prescription and over the counter (OTC) diets specially formulated for dogs and cats.

Given the unique nature of the role, you will be required to execute technical responsibilities with minimal oversight to ensure companion animal foods and treats, manufactured and sold, meet, or exceed our health, safety, and nutrition standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Deliver scientific and product-focused educational content at national and large regional veterinary conferences
* Virtual and on-site training and nutrition support for corporate, specialty, and other high-impact customers
* Oversee and execute college of veterinary medicine program, including but not limited to student ambassador program, education, building relationships with subject matter experts, and identifying synergistic projects
* Maintain highest nutrition standards across the organization through cross-functional projects, including innovation, formulation, and food safety and quality
* Provide oversight for the veterinary medical claim by working with legal, customer care, and quality teams.
* Partner with Animal Nutrition on clinical research, abstract, manuscripts and presentation.
* Provide veterinary expertise, including risk analysis, for animal welfare inquiries, food safety concerns, or product commercialization challenges.
* Collaborate with the product development team on new therapeutic feeding systems

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent from an accredited university and 4+ years of experience working in a clinical and animal health industry or academic setting
* Valid state veterinary license or ability to obtain license
* DACVN, DACVIM (Nutrition), DECVCN degree or equivalent - active or eligible
* Proactive self-starter, independently advances initiatives, and serves as a team player in an open work environment
* Demonstrated ability fostering external engagement with veterinary professionals, associations, and key opinion leaders (KOLs)
* Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external networks
* Project management skills and experience
* Willingness to travel (around 25% of the time)

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

* General Mills has a strong preference for an individual in Minneapolis or an individual willing to relocate to Minneapolis for this role. Remote candidates can be considered for this role, but must live within 50 miles of a major airport

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $104700.00 - $157200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
