Job Summary:

The Zheng Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated postdoctoral fellow to contribute to investigations into the structural and functional mechanisms of various disease-related membrane proteins and protein complexes. These proteins include human solute carriers, bacterial siderophore ABC importers, ion channels, and others. The postdoctoral fellow will utilize cryo-electron microscopy to determine protein structures, employ biochemical and biophysical methods to characterize protein functions, and use molecular dynamics simulations to understand the structural dynamics. The selected candidate will have access to numerous on-campus core facilities, such as cryo-EM, biophysics, protein expression, and many others. This position is funded by an NIH grant for a period of four years.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct research involving the structural and functional analysis of membrane proteins.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and execute experiments.
* Contribute to the writing of scientific papers and grant proposals.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and will be located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

* PhD in biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, structural biology (or a related field).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in molecular biology and protein characterizations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Proficient knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
* Outstanding customer service skills.
* Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
* Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
* Experience in structural biology is not required

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$56,484 - $59,592

Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience and based on NIH Postdoctoral Compensation guidelines.
