Position Title: Psychologist Intern

Department: Exceptional Children

Reports to: Meagan Sykes-Director of Exceptional Children

Job Summary:

The Psychologist Intern will work under the supervision of a licensed psychologist or a qualified mental health professional in the Exceptional Children's department. The intern will be responsible for providing clinical support, conducting assessments, and participating in therapeutic interventions. This position is designed to offer a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience for individuals pursuing a career in psychology.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Assessments: Conduct psychological assessments under supervision, including intake interviews, psychological testing, and diagnostic evaluations.


  1. Therapeutic Interventions: Participate in individual and group therapy sessions, implementing evidence-based interventions and treatment plans.


  1. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, assessment results, and treatment plans in accordance with ethical and legal standards.


  1. Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals, to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for clients.


  1. Professional Development: Actively engage in ongoing professional development opportunities, including supervision sessions, training workshops, and relevant conferences.


  1. Ethical Standards: Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal requirements related to the practice of psychology, maintaining confidentiality and privacy of client information.


  1. Client Advocacy: Advocate for the well-being and rights of clients, providing support and resources as needed.


  1. Research and Program Development: Contribute to research projects or program development initiatives within the department, as appropriate.


Qualifications:
  1. Currently enrolled in a doctoral program in psychology or a related field.
  2. Completion of coursework in clinical psychology, counseling, or a relevant area of study.
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  5. Knowledge of ethical guidelines and legal standards in the field of psychology.
  6. Basic understanding of psychological assessment tools and therapeutic interventions.


Supervision and Training:

The Psychologist Intern will receive regular supervision and training from a licensed psychologist or qualified supervisor. This will include ongoing case reviews, feedback on clinical work, and opportunities for professional development.
