Job Description

Every manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of his or her store. In addition to ensuring that the store contributes to the increased profitability of the company, all managers must adhere to company policies and procedures. The Second Assistant Manager is responsible for leading the store staff in the absence of both the First Assistant Manager, and the Store Manager.

Job Knowledge and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Store Manager and the Management team to ensure that the store maintains a store inspection grade of at least 94% on the store Image Evaluation.
  • Adhere to all city, county, and state tobacco and liquor regulations.
  • Ensure Store Manager is advised of all cash (to include cash over/shorts in excess of $5.00), sales and/or operation discrepancies.
  • Assist the Manager in preparing and delivering all bank deposits for the store on a daily basis, without delay.
  • Accurately post sales, invoices, markups and markdowns, store use of merchandise, voids, and bad merchandise write-offs, within established guidelines.
  • Assist the Store Manager and First Assistant manager with controlling inventory.

Service Orientation
  • Ensures that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer-friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every customer and by maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer services.
  • Ensure that all employees are fully trained on proper safety and security procedures as stated in the policy manual; notify Store Manager of any violations of proper procedures.

Communication, Collaboration, and Teamwork
  • Assist the Store Manager and Full Time Assistant Managers with the day to day operation of the store and supervision of the store associates.
  • Work in a team like fashion with other associates to accomplish goals and tasks.
  • Perform certain tasks as assigned by the Store Manager, or the First Assistant Manager.
  • Assist with Cashier training as needed.

Planning, Organizing, and Accountability
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and ensure the store associates do the same.
  • In the absence of the Store Manager and the First Assistant Manager, prepare shift reports on a daily basis and enters proper information into the computer for transmission on a daily basis.

Initiative, Problem-Solving, and Decision Making
  • Ensure that store has proper product mix to achieve sales growth.
  • Keep updated with company price book, operations manual, bulletins, memos and other pertinent information provided by the Store Manager or the company.
  • Look for ways to improve store appearance and profitability.

Support the Mission of Warrenton Oil Company
  • Create a positive store culture by treating employees fair and with respect.
  • Give all customers prompt and courteous service and ensure store associates do the same.

  • Ensure the safety and security of employees and customers, even under extreme conditions
  • Site liaison for all emergency situations
  • On-site presence during severe weather and emergency situations
  • Serve as person-in-charge for all site-specific needs
