The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients while adhering to compliance standards. This candidate should be able to recognize patient needs and prioritize those needs with the needs outlined by physicians.

Responsibilities

  • to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
  • includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
  • to adequately assess and reassess pain.
  • appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
  • patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
  • of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
  • the SIX (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
  • an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • ability to perform treatments and provide services to level licensure.
  • knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocol.
  • to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
  • to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
  • a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
  • care to patients with compromised nutritional/metabolic status.
  • care to patients requiring extensive fluid and electrolyte management.
  • appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and physicians.
  • other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
  • an ability to assist physicians with procedures both in the PCU and other departments.
  • an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • 2 years experience -Required
  • Must be willing to float - this is a float position
  • Must be willing to jump in as needed where/when needed as a "Resource"
  • High proficiency in both ED and MS/PCU required
  • Experience with MS, ED and PCU/MS required
  • Must be willing to be assigned to a Unit and/or do transfers, admissions, etc
  • Previous travel experience Required
  • Rural/small facility experience Highly Preferred
  • COVID Vaccination required
  • BLS, ACLS required, PALS or ENPC required within 6 months of hire
