Intake Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

Completes applications for persons applying for Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP Plus), and other related utility assistance programs within Cuyahoga County. Reviews all energy assistance applications and verifies information in client files.

B. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

1. Accepts and screens applications for HEAP and PIPP Plus which have been dropped off and/or mailed in to the agency, completes all necessary paperwork and secures all required documentation of the customer's eligibility for the program benefits. This includes applications mailed to the state office which required additional documentation for completion and customer submitted online applications.

2. Sends correspondence out to customers informing them of the status of their applications.

3. Performs a final review of HEAP applications for accuracy to identify any errors or omissions and assures that required forms are complete and all supporting documentation is included in the file.

4. Refers inaccurate client files or records back to Intake/Outreach staff for resolution.

Non-Essential Functions:

1. Performs other functions as assigned to contribute to the efficiency of the agency and department.

C. REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

2. Working knowledge of computer operations and the ability to use general office equipment.

3. Good oral, written, interpersonal and organizational communication skills.

4. Legible handwriting and good math skills

Additional Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

Successful results of pre-employment and continuous employment assessments including fingerprinting, drug testing, medical examinations and background check(s).
