Summary of the Position:

Under the direct supervision of the Special Education Director or designee and the school site principal, collaborates and consults with staff to assist in the development and implementation of schoolwide and classroom management systems, develops and supervises individual positive behavior support plans for selected elementary K-8 students, and conducts functional analysis assessments as needed. Interacts professionally with parents, students, school and district personnel and other pertinent professionals.

Essential Duties:

* Observe and analyze student behavior: assess school/classroom structures, review student goals, behavior programming, and behavior management systems

* Provide consultation and technical assistance to staff and families concerning behavior management systems

* Create and implement detailed and concise Behavior Support Plans, Behavior Intervention Plans, and Functional Assessments

* Provide data collection and assessment relating to the development of positive behavior support plans and behavior intervention plans

* Develop, implement and conduct in-services and training sessions for staff as related to supporting positive student behaviors

* Regularly communicate with parents, staff and supervisors on behavior progress of students

* Assist with implementing interventions to assist students in meeting their IEP goals.

* Prepare summary of behavior progress and attend IEP meetings as appropriate.

* Design forms for data collection and progress monitoring

* Attend workshops, conferences to keep up with current research and strategies.

* Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge/Abilities:

* Child development, behavior interventions, applied behavior analysis and clinical interventions for students and families.

* Behavioral analysis, positive behavioral intervention and discipline techniques, effective practices and positive behavior treatment plans.

* Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.

* All aspects of special needs students including Autism, emotional disturbances, and other behavior challenges in Elementary school children.

* Case management principles and record keeping practices and procedures.

* Provide training in behavior based techniques and strategies.

* Write behavior support plans and functional assessments.

* Modify curriculum to effectively meet student's needs.

* Collaborate with a wide variety of SST and IEP team members.

* Provide consultation to general and special education staff, parents and students.

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

* Plan and organize work.

* Maintain accurate records and files.

* Work confidentially with discretion.

* Maintain good professional boundaries with staff, parents and students.

Work Environment:

* Working environments include indoor and outdoor settings and multiple school settings

* Potential contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals

* Loud or abusive language/noise levels

Physical Requirements:

* Seeing to read a variety of materials and observe students

* Hearing and speaking to exchange information

* Sit, stand, walk, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, twist, bend over, grasp, reach, push and pull

* Provide services to Elementary age students as the need arises that may require moving, lifting and or carrying of students weighing 0 to 50 pounds to chest height

Duty Days / Hours:

* 183 days per year

* 7 hours per day
