Position Summary # Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse demonstrates thorough knowledge of therapeutic patient care, patient advocacy, clinical pathways/care maps, team dynamics, hospital systems, and serves as a resource for the registered nurse and support staff.# Collaborates with leadership in developing and implementing the Spartanburg Medical Center culture, Vision, Mission and goals. It is the premise of the Professional Practice Program that each of the key responsibilities builds on the preceding requirements. # Unit Description # What we are: Welcome to Women Services 5 Tower is a 28-bed unit, and 6 North is a 12-bed unit that specializes in Mom/baby/Antepartum care.# During times of low census, female non-obstetric patients, preferably with GYN conditions or other patients representing clean surgical cases or medical conditions may be admitted to these units.# We are a Baby Friendly facility, and we are proud that all our nurses have a Breastfeeding Certification.# We will support you in obtaining this special certification too.### # Who we are/unit culture: Teamwork is at the heart of our success.# Embrace the warmth and support of our clinically proficient team as you transition into your roles as a registered nurse.# Our Charge Nurse, Admission Discharge Nurse, and Resource Nurse are always available to guide patient care, support staff development, and lead day-to-day unit operations.# Our commitment to outstanding patient and family satisfaction, combined with high staff engagement scores, makes our Women#s units a place of inspiration and growth.# # Our unit leadership: At the helm of the Women#s Units, you#ll find our Nurse Manager, a seasoned nurse with 30 years of experience, all of it in Women#s services.# She started out as a unit secretary while in nursing school and worked her way up as a bedside nurse, Charge Nurse, Educator and Nurse Manager.# She truly understands each role and responsibility.# The Resource Nurse has 33 years of nursing experience from Med-Surg and Women#s Services.# She has a passion for teaching other nurses and sharing her knowledge with others.# She teaches many of the Women#s and Children#s Specialty classes such as Basic Fetal monitoring, quarterly essential classes and assists with yearly competencies.# # Minimum Requirements # Education######## Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. # License/Registration/Certifications### Current R.N. licensure in the state of South Carolina BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC # # Preferred Requirements # Preferred Education## BSN # Preferred Experience# Experience in this field of nursing preferred# # Core Job Responsibilities # Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the health care team to determine patient priorities and treatments Initiates and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance outcome Seeks necessary assistance in completing nursing interventions to assure positive patient outcomes Participates in hourly rounding and bedside shift report Responsible for demonstrating competency for all new equipment and procedures. Provides clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff Successfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs Formulates a plan for professional growth Ensures compliance with all clinical expectations regarding regulatory requirements Identifies appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care Complies with established policies and procedures Identifies the need to develop or revise policies and procedures pertaining to specialized patient populations and/or unit and hospital-based practices Serves on unit-based committees Prioritizes nursing interventions for an assigned group of patients Assesses assigned patients# medical history, admitting diagnosis and physician#s orders, obtaining nursing history, performing physical assessment, evaluating diagnostic data, and interviewing patient and family to determine patient needs Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory. Assures continuity of care through effective decision making resulting in quality patient care Documents all aspects of patient care by following established charting procedure to show the patient#s progress or any change in the patient#s condition Other Duties as assigned

Education
