The Carbone Lab at the Oregon Health & Science University is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the group and participate to the analysis of funded projects focused on generating epigenetic maps from non-human primate tissues during development. The recruited person will work under supervision of the PI and a computational staff scientist to develop strategies for data analysis/integration, and independently carry out bioinformatic analysis of next-generation sequence data from Hi-C, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and RNA-seq assays, using established pipelines and/or open source software. This position requires a motivated, creative and hard-working and individual who has excellent attention to details and is capable of working in a high-pace and highly collaborative environment. Proficiency in bioinformatics computational techniques and working knowledge of molecular biology are required. Excellent oral and writing skills are required for summarizing and presenting results to colleagues and collaborators. Ability and willingness to take on some responsibilities as Linux system and website administrator is a plus. Key Responsibilities: Develop data analysis strategies, analyze next-gen sequencing data and documentation. Participate in meetings, discuss and present findings. Linux system and website administration. Required Qualifications: PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology or closely related field. At least 2 years of hands-on graduate-level experience in bioinformatics analysis, including independent analysis of epigenetic and genetic next-generation sequencing data Preferred: Experience in both wet and dry lab, particularly single-cell assays.

  • Proficiency in Linux and basic bioinformatic tools (e.g. samtools, bedtools, bwa, etc).

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in developing research and analysis strategies.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a small group setting, and one-on-one with collaborators in a positive and productive manner.

  • Proven ability to independently manage, analyze and interpret research data, utilizing tools such as spreadsheets, graphics, and statistical programs.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize work demands to meet project deadlines and objectives, in a high-pace environment.

  • Ensure the quality and integrity of research data through rigorous quality control and review processes.

  • Exceptional self-motivation and integrity, particularly in remote work settings.


  • Experience in both wet and dry lab, particularly single-cell assays
  • Strong publication track record.

  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl, C)

  • Proficiency in R
