GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The staff nurse is a registered nurse who is responsible for assuring competent, compassionate, individualized, nursing care for specific patients and families, including delegation to and supervision of non-professional and support staff. The staff nurse is responsible and accountable for the overall nursing care management of a designated group of patients. This position is a combined role for two Pediatric specialty practices Pedi ID, Pedi Rheumatology. She/he collaborates with the physicians and members of the Care Team to achieve optimal Patient outcomes. She/he also collaborates with the Patient toward efficient and effective personnel and unit management.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Telephone triage of patient's calls
* Renewal of prescription refills to pharmacies
* Manage In-Basket messages
* Provides letters, school & medication forms, and other documentation as requested
* Submit prior authorizations as indicated
* Education of patients and families
* Work with and support physicians
* Coordinates home patient care
* Ordering, screening, dosing and administration of medications
* Recognition of medical emergency and initiates alert and treatment system
* Other duties as assigned

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Bachelor of Science in N

2 years' nursing experience required.

Prior pediatric experience preferred.

Previous Ambulatory clinical experience preferred.

Knowledge of EPIC preferred.

Nursing preferred; new graduates must have a BSN degree.

BCLS certification.
