*The Gardens at Stevens *is seeking a personable *Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) *to assist the Director of Nursing with the management and training of the nursing services staff and the overall management of resident care.

_*JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:*_
* Demonstrates knowledge of developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e. physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning the delivery of care.
* Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to care for residents with the following needs: therapeutic, neuro and dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, infectious disease, and wound care, if applicable.
* Acts appropriately under the direction of the DON and acts as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
* Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in unit/shift assignments to meet resident and facility needs.
* Ensures the residents receive skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.

_*Qualifications:*_

· Must possess, as a minimum, a degree in Nursing from an accredited school.

· Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located

· Baccalaureate degree preferred.

· Working knowledge of the needs of the aging and chronically ill requiring long term care, the principles of management, supervision, organizational behavior and structure, and communication systems.

· A physical examination and/or evidence from a physician indicating freedom of communicable disease to be available upon employment.

· Must be in good physical and mental health.

· Ability to work independently or part of a group.

· Effectively communicate with others.

_*Experience*_

· Must have, as a minimum, 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.

· Previous long-term care experience is desirable.

· Computer knowledge preferred.

_*Physical and Sensory Requirements*_

(With or without the aid of mechanical devices)

· Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

· Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.

· Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

· Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

· Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with resident personnel, and support agencies.

· Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
