LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Deer's Head Hospital Center, Salisbury, MD
Main Purpose of Job This position within the Kidney Dialysis Unit at Deer's Head Hospital Center is for an experienced dialysis registered nurse. This position is responsible for the management and administration of the in-center hemodialysis program for patients who choose this modality of treatment for End Stage Renal Disease as well as supervision for home dialysis patients. Additionally, this position is responsible for the supervision of the nursing care delivered by the dialysis staff.

Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding
Vaccination (MDH # 2023.04.18.03) issued by the Secretary of the Maryland
Department of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals and
residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any
local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees,
contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties
at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing
appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious
reasons
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education:Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
Experience:Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the Medical option.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university for the one year of general experience.
2.Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.
3.Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications orNursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursingfield of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS The selected candidate must possess at least 1 year of experience performing hemodialysis in a chronic dialysis unit.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate should possess the following:

Experience providing nursing care for peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients
Experience demonstrating and explaining patient care practices for Joint Commission and/or Kidney Commission surveyors

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS 1.Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
2.Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
3.Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
