Position Title: ED Paramedic, CCP Department: Emergency Care # Purpose: Provides safe, effective, ethical and culturally competent patient care for Emergency Department patients of all age groups requiring stabilization and/or resuscitation. Collaborates in the assessment of the patient and/or situations in a timely, consistent and systematic manner. Implements care under direction of the ED provider to achieve identified outcomes for the patient according to policy and procedure. Performs care and procedures according to protocols and at their respective level of licensure in accordance with guidelines and other delegated tasks approved to perform. Functions within their Scope of Practice in accordance with the Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of EMS. # Report To: Manager, Outpatient Services # Supervisory Responsibility: Guidance: The job requires the provision of occasional guidance and training to others. The job does not have formal or official supervisory responsibilities. # Materials Responsibility: Limited: Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. POSITION SPECIFICATION

Education: 2 year college program or equivalent experience

Field Of Study: Emergency Medical Services

Special Training: Basic Life Support, ACLS

Training Preferred: Associates degree; PALS; NRP.

Licensure/Registration: Licensed Paramedic in Iowa; Licensed Paramedic in Illinois within one year; Critical Care Paramedic (CCP).

Experience: More than 2 years experience required.

Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are often difficult or stressful in nature.
