Folsom School District is seeking a School Nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Current Registered Nurse License for the State of New Jersey.
* Holds or is eligible for a New Jersey Educational Services Certificate Endorsement: School Nurse.
* Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

RELATIONSHIPS: The School Nurse shall be under the direction and accountable to the Superintendent. The School Nurse is under the medical supervision of the School Physician.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Health Appraisals

Perform growth measurements; visual, Scoliosis, and auditory screening; tuberculin testing as directed by the State Health Department; notify parents of students needing necessary immunizations as required by State Law.

2. Illness and Emergency Care

Give emergency care and contact parents when further treatment is needed. The Nurse may accompany the child with the parent, or responsible adult, to a hospital. Medications are administered in accordance with School Board policy.

3. Record Keeping

Prepare and keep accurate health records and accident reports of each student. Keep sport physical records and notifies coach and or parent when physicals expire. Coordinates with school doctor to clear student's sports physicals.

4. Health Counseling

Report health information to parents, students, school personnel, family physician, clinics, and other agencies that may be needed, and counsel them concerning health problems.

5. Control of Communicable Disease

Establish a system of routine observation of children's health status, which will ensure protection against in-school infections, and prompt referral to parents for need of attention.

6. Health Education

Assist in the formal classroom setting with supplemental instruction; work with other professional personnel in developing Family Life Curriculum, and act as a resource person on all health related subjects. Continually provide incidental instruction, daily, on an individualized basis to those students visiting the health office.

* Report to teachers the names of children who have physical defects or have special medical problems such as: Epilepsy, diabetes, allergies, etc.
* Submit accident reports to the Superintendent's office.
* Assess the sanitary condition of the building for a healthful and safe school environment.
* Participate in the Kindergarten Registration Program.
* Attend staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees.
* Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy
* Perform duties, which are within the scope of his/her employment and certifications, as assigned by his/her supervisor in accordance with New Jersey State Law, State Board of Education Rules and Regulations, rules and regulations of other state agencies, local Board of Education policies, and State Board of Health regulations.
* Strive to maintain awareness of current developments, interpretations of subject matter content, and methodology of teaching in the health field.
* Maintain ethical and professional behavior in working with school personnel and other agencies.
* Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
