Job Purpose

As a Crisis Interventionist, you will actively respond to and resolve emergency and crisis situations for children and youth ages 13 - 17 served by Child & Family Services (CFS) and MHMR Tarrant County as well as any applicable contracted entities and community partners. In this position, you will aid children and youth and their families in mitigating crisis situations in a trauma-informed and least restrictive manner. You will connect them to and coordinate receipt of the best services in the community to meet their needs. As a Crisis Interventionist, you will impact children, youth, their families, and the community by ensuring those in crisis are recipients of what they need to recover, thrive, and succeed.

Essential Functions

Respond to, assess, and address in a trauma-informed and least restrictive manner, the crisis needs of children and youth ages 13 - 17 served by Child & Family Services, contracted entities, and community partners.

Connect children and youth to CFS services that best meet their ongoing needs and track their progress toward recovery goals.

Coordinate emergency and case management services with community partners, including law enforcement, as applicable and ensure that appropriate continuity of care and crisis follow-up are completed.

Deliver and document within required timelines evidence-based treatment, case management, and coordination of care.

Participate in team meetings, supervision meetings, and other meetings or committees as assigned.

Knowledge of Laws, Regulations, Policies/Procedures, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of typical, atypical, and disordered development, and medical diagnoses and conditions impacting children and youth prenatally through age 17.

Knowledge of CFS program' eligibility requirements and services provided.

MHMRTC Policies and Procedures

FERPA and HIPPA compliance

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Analytical and time-management skills or ability to be flexible and productive at a fast pace and produce quality work.

Knowledge of protective factors and family-strengthening strategies.

Ability to multitask, maintain focus, and complete assigned tasks within defined timelines.

Use of coaching and/or motivational interviewing and trauma-informed approaches while building capacity of children, youth, families, co-workers, and teams.

Knowledge of Texas laws regarding reporting adult and child abuse/neglect.

Working knowledge of community resources and case management principles.

Ability to proficiently operate a computer, software, and systems utilized by CFS, such as: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint; myAvatar; UKG/Kronos; Teams; VPN; Salesforce, AgencyFinder and FINDConnect

Internal & External Customer Service

Interact and respond using a compassion mindset, awareness of need for felt safety, and consideration of all variables affecting families and teammates.

Work effectively with families/adults from various cultural, linguistic, socio-economic, cognitive, social-emotional, and educational statuses.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, including families, characterized by mutual support, open communication, trust, and respect. Always considering what is best for families in decisions about treatment and support.

Discuss uncomfortable and potentially conflict-producing, stressful topics in a professional and effective manner with children and youth and their families as well as internal and external customers and maintain courteous interaction.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree

Defined Education: Health and Humans Services field of Applied Behavior Analysis - Child Development - Counseling - Early Childhood Education - Early Childhood Intervention - Education Psychology - Gerontology - Human Growth and Development - Medicine - Nursing - Physician Assistant - Psychology - Registered Nurse - Rehabilitation & Rehab Studies - Social Work - Sociology - or Special Education

Preferences: Spanish fluency; one (1) year of experience preferred in a behavioral health/substance-use/disability services area; current licensure in the state of Texas as an LMSW preferred.

License/Certifications: Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) OR eligible for QMHP certification (based on minimum and defined education above) required; current licensure in the state of Texas as an LMSW preferred.

Agency Requirements

All staff are required to participate in agency Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Safety programs and may be assigned by their department as a key/essential staff level function during critical events or for the purpose of sustaining business continuity.

This position may require temporary or permanent re-assignment to any MHMR Tarrant facility as determined by program needs and/or the Division/Director.

Assigned work hours may change as the needs of the agency change.

The Functional Title of this position may change as the needs of the agency change.

All work will be completed within the scheduled work hours. All non-exempt (hourly) employees are expected to clock in and clock out for each work shift, no work should be done off the clock.

MHMR reserves the right to change, add to or eliminate positions as it deems appropriate.

Employment is at will, as well as agency needs may change.

Agency dress code is to be followed at all times.

Physical on-site presence, including regular attendance and punctuality, is an essential function of this position. Any changes or adjustments to your assigned work schedule or shift hours must be approved by your supervisor in advance.
