Essential Duties

1. Examines patients to collect information about their physical condition and establishes a clinical diagnosis. 2. Conducts physicals, provides treatment, formulates a health care plan and counsels patients on various health practices. 3. Encourages compliance with treatments plan through education, assessment of patient understanding and regular patient monitoring. 4. Provides reasonable and prudent medical care, practices appropriate management, and uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards and evidenced based medicine. 5. Obtains, compiles, and records patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination. 6. Provides preventive health practices to patients to maintain and improve health and prevent illness. 7. Coordinates patient care including ordering of laboratory tests and radiographic studies. 8. Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal. 9. Prescribes therapy or medication as necessary. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Master's Degree from an accredited Advanced Nurse Practitioner program or graduation from a Physician Assistant (PA) Training Program accredited by the American Medical Association Council on Medical Education.

Position Focus:

This position will provide a comprehensive, longitudinal role in patient centered clinical research within the Movement Disorder Division of Neurology while practicing in the scope and boundaries of state and governing bodies regulations.

The candidate hired will be required to obtain training and certification in the following common rating scales and evaluation methods: Montreal Cognitive Assessment, Movement Disorders Society (MDS) - Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale, MDS - Non-Motor Symptoms Scale, MDS - Unified Dyskinesia Rating Scale, Unified Huntington's Disease Rating Scale, Unified Multiple System Atrophy Rating Scale, and Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia. The candidate hired will be required to obtain training and certification in good clinical practice and any additional research training required by the institutional review board.

This position will: Work in collaboration with the research and clinical team to provide exceptional care to patients enrolled in clinical research. Promote awareness of clinical research opportunities for diverse participant populations. Identify eligible participants and manage recruitment for multiple (sometimes competing) studies. Educate clinical patients on best practice, evidence-based management, and trial opportunities. Complete enrollment of research participants, including informed consent procedures. Administer and monitor clinical evaluations of research participants. Assist in data and collection and collection of metrics in clinical research, clinical care, and supportive care programs. Document and interpret clinical events. Perform IRB and trial protocol submissions and modifications. Become familiar with existing background literature related to research projects. Build knowledge, skills, resources, and support to become literate in movement disorders research. Evaluate barriers to implementing clinical research. Opportunity to implement personal and collaborative research ideas. Participate in research related conferences and review boards. May perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Clinical & research experience in Movement Disorders, including understanding of common disease pathology & symptomatology, disease course, treatment options, & evaluation methods, clinical trial experience, certification, & training, protocol driven aspects of clinical trial/observational research and common clinical evaluation methodology in Movement disorders.
