Duties
• You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT) in the IT Department, N6, of Navy Region North West Reserve Component Command of Everett, WA.
• You will review, approve, and track to completion of all local service requests and all NMCI Area Customer Technical Representatives (ACTR) request for creating, moving or deactivating accounts (Move-Add-Changes, M/A/Cs).
• You will apply knowledge and skill in customer support principles, installed systems bases, IT security principles, methods and procedures for documenting resolutions/problem resolution databases, and providing support.
• You will maintain related INFOSEC instructions, and ensure appropriate security documents are posted to command websites.
• You will assist in or serve as a member of a team for the accomplishment of special studies or projects, and coordinate efforts to implement mandatory technical standards of legacy systems

Qualifications Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position
Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position
Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled
You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
• Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail
Approving and reviewing requests for hardware changes, equipment moves, network installation, software installations and facility changes.
• Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services
Providing users advice and notifications in regards to security issues affecting both NMCI and non-NMCI systems.
• Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately
Recommending changes in agency policies and procedures.
• Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations
Assisting subordinate or administratively supported organizations with order development, submission and problem resolution
** AND ** In addition to the four competencies above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
• Experience applying knowledge of agency information processing standards, policies, and procedures to analyze and advise managers on system matters and evaluate the need for changes in existing policies and procedures.
• Experience applying knowledge of equipment characteristics, computer techniques, requirements, methods, and procedures to include familiarity with approaches used by organizations in other agencies and/or the private sector in order to evaluate quality and level of service provided and to provide advice and assistance to managers.
• Experience applying knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of assigned program and administrative operations.
• Experience analyzing and solving problems and developing proposals for resolution of standard issues and problems

Education BASIC REQUIREMENTS: This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Qualifications/Experience
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: GS-9: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree If you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you must submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume
