STAFF NURSE FLOAT POOL 18HRS

CLINICAL PRACTICE:
* Demonstrates clinical expertise and uses the nursing process to provide safe, appropriate patient care to a defined patient population according to CCMC and unit policies and standards.
* Competently cares for all patients in med-surg and float assignments in the ICUs
* Demonstrates knowledge of the population-specific differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
LEADERSHIP AND MENTORING:
* Delegates duties and tasks associated with patient care to clinical staff according to hospital policy and their scope of practice.
* Participates in the professional development of others through preceptor/mentor activities and positive role modeling.
* Supports the department's work productivity and resource management activities.
DOCUMENTATION/COMMUNICATION :
* Completes all required documentation in a timely manner;
* Effectively communicates all information to members of the health care team.
PATIENT/FAMILY PARTNERSHIP & EDUCATION:
* Partners with child and family in evaluating outcomes.
* Monitors and evaluates patient/family responses to treatment.
* Provides and documents appropriate education to patients and families regarding all aspects of care according to CCMC policies and standards.
QUALITY AND SAFETY:
* Identifies safety concerns and barriers to optimal patient care and brings issue forward to appropriate leadership staff
* Holds self and others accountable to unsure patient safety
* Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the Connecticut Children's behaviors and leadership competencies.
* Education Required: A minimum of ASN/ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred. If ASN/ADN, must acquire BSN within 3 years of hire
* Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse Licensure required and maintained thereafter.
* American Heart Association, or American Red Cross, Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification required upon hire and maintained thereafter.
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire.
* Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training certification required within 3 months of hire and maintained thereafter.
* Experience Preferred: Minimum 2 years experience working as a RN in a pediatric clinical setting preferred.
