Good communication skills are essential, even when the other party is confused, upset, uncooperative, or irritable. Strong observations skills, high sense of awareness to your surroundings and changes with the patients. Dedication, dependability and a certain degree of humility are required, since a BHT must be able to take orders, report to supervisors, and work on routine or even repetitive tasks daily. To succeed you must be able to put routine or repetitive services in perspective and focus on the greater positive effects they bring. Collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.
