SPEECH LANGUAGE SPECIALIST

Minimum Qualifications:

* Hold a valid NJ Speech Language Specialist, #3462. If a Speech Correctionist certificate is held, they must show proof of completion of a Department-approved retraining program by August 1, 2015 in accordance with the new requirements of N.J.A.C. 6A:9B-12.6
* Hold and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of speech-language pathology, child growth and development, learning assessment and diagnosis, research related to learning, instructional strategies, and classroom management
* Demonstrate the ability to assess, treat, and provide strategies for the prevention and remediation of speech, language, and hearing disorders
* Develop and implement screening procedures to identify students who are in need of corrective speech, language, and/or hearing instruction (N.J.A.C. 6A: 14-3.6).
* Plan and deliver treatment for students with speech, language, and/or hearing deficiencies in individual and small group settings.

Nature and Scope of Job:

Provides a full range of services in the identification and diagnosis of speech, language, communication, and hearing disorders. Assists in the prescription and delivery of appropriate educational services and programs to eliminate, reduce, or accommodate disabilities that interfere with the student's meeting and exceeding the NJ State Standards.

Terms:

* Per diem salary based on Negotiated Agreement
* Reports to the Director of Special Services and assigned Administrator
