Acts as an integral part of the Rehab team, providing departmental support for continual improvement and excellent patient outcomes. The Occupational Therapist uses critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and communicates effectively verbally and in writing to provide exceptional customer service. The Occupational Therapist integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the needs of each patient. The OT#s decisions and actions with patients and families are determined in an ethical manner, practicing compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and unique attributes of each person.# Effectively communicates with patients/families, visitors, colleagues, physicians, leadership, and volunteers. All areas of practice and care delivery are provided to achieve and maintain top-decile results and outcomes for patient experience, quality, and patient safety. The OT follows and adheres to UNC Health Blue Ridge policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and standards of behavior. The OT practices within the practice and scope of their license. Essential functions of the Occupational Therapist:# Consistently and accurately perform thorough evaluations according to protocol, which are relevant to patient diagnosis and current scientific and clinical knowledge;#Correctly interpret evaluation data to identify functional deficit and barriers to function and refine current functional#status;#Consistently establish realistic, measurable, timely and functional short-term goals and long-term goals related to the discharge plan;#Accurately monitor and modify treatments to maximize patient functional outcomes based on patient#s rehabilitation and psychological responses;#Consistently monitor effects of teaching, training and discharge planning to staff, patient and family and retrain as appropriate to ensure safety and carryover of tasks;#Effectively gather pertinent data from appropriate sources (patient, family, medical records) and consistently#monitor changes.
