Training may start in May 2024, if possible. Successful candidate may be assigned to one building or may float between all five school buildings after training.

JOB GOAL: To provide direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness and emergency care to students and staff in response to nursing assessment and in accordance with professional standards, school policy, and procedures, and state and local mandates.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Current Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of IllinoisCurrent CPR/AED program completion
  2. Baccalaureate Degree preferred, but not required
  3. Good interpersonal skills
  4. Computer literacy and competency in use of current technology
  5. Bilingual skills preferred, but not required
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Health Services Supervisor and Building Principal.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provides direct professional nursing services to students and staff including nursing assessment, making referrals for diagnosis and treatment, when needed and providing follow-up and evaluation.
  2. Provides care for ill and injured students and staff
  3. Provides health information for students, parents, and staff.
  4. Administers medication under supervision of Health Services Supervisor.
  5. Informs parents of injuries/illnesses and of care provided as advised by the Health Services Supervisor.
  6. Completes or facilitates completion of accident/incident reports for review by the Principal and Health Services Supervisor.
  7. Maintains current log of student visits and ongoing documentation of individual health records.
  8. Participates in maintaining accurate medical records including recording immunizations, physical examinations, and related archival responsibilities.
  9. Makes appropriate assessment and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter assisted by the Health Services Supervisor.
  10. Communicates effectively with Health Services Supervisor, building administrators, other school personnel, and parents/guardians in order to enhance cooperative action to meet the health and safety needs of students.
  11. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding school and health related issues.
  12. Takes initiative to help with main office tasks.
  13. Demonstrates cooperation, courtesy and willingness to improve conditions and situations involving staff, parents and students.
  14. Attends work regularly, dresses appropriately, is conscious of responsibilities, and conducts tasks with integrity.
  15. Fosters good public relations.
  16. Supports activities of Health Services Supervisor and performs other health or school related tasks as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month contract.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
