Compensation:

  • In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.



Role Summary



The Camp Nurse is responsible for the care and well-being of all campers and staff during Camp Bloomfield 2023. This position will serve as the primary resource for campers and staff to obtain hospital or clinic referrals and will administer first aid as needed.



Please Note : This seasonal position will begin on June 3rd, 2024 and end on July 5th, 2024 with an expected forty to seventy (40-70) hours per week.



  • Complete camper’s health screening
  • Adheres to the Doctor’s Standing Orders and all regulations governing the nursing profession
  • Responsible for administrating first aid as needed
  • Responsible for the care and well-being of all campers/staff during camp
  • Serves as the primary resources regarding campers and staff referrals to the clinic or hospital
  • Maintain the required Daily Log
  • Ensures that all medical releases, worker’s compensation, and camper medical forms accompany campers and/or staff to the clinic or hospital
  • Control Infirmary inventories
  • Complete all required accident forms and daily statistics
  • Assist with verifying required PCR test results for campers
  • Conduct rapid covid testing on an as-needed basis
  • Assist campers with administering any required daily injections (e.g., insulin)
  • Assist activity leads with ensuring campers remain hydrated and avoid any heat-related illnesses
  • Provide a list of required medications to be taken by each camper and staff
  • Follow up with any illness/accident as necessary



Qualifications



  • Hold a current California Nursing License
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
  • Meet all health screening, drug testing, and background investigation clearances, as well as possess a valid driver’s license (if applicable), insurance and have an acceptable DMV record
  • Applicants must demonstrate evidence of a negative PCT test (taken within 72 hours) before the camp start date
  • Must be able to lift to 30 pounds
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Ability to oversee and supervise small and large groups in camp and cabin activities
  • Prior resident camp experience is desirable
  • Desire to work with children, teens, and adults who are blind, visually impaired, and multi-disabled
  • Ability to organize daily activities
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and cooperation
  • Knowledge of group dynamics
