Systems Engineer (Operations and Maintenance)

Chantilly, VA Job Overview
This role involves operational support, system engineering, and development for both Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and bespoke applications used within our systems. It is essential for applicants to have an active Top Secret Clearance and Polygraph. Key Responsibilities: • Stay abreast of technological advancements in IT. • Keep informed about ongoing IT projects and business requirements. • Conduct comprehensive cost analyses for projects, ensuring adherence to enterprise technical architecture. • Operate and maintain applications within cloud infrastructures. • Collaborate with Sponsor’s representatives on cloud environment purchases, engineering, and architectural decisions related to applications. • Help the Sponsor’s product owner in risk management. • Fulfill development requests from the Sponsor. • Utilize a Sponsor-approved tracking system for logging issues and problems. • Set up and maintain an automated testing environment in the Sponsor’s AWS using tools like Selenium or equivalents. • Work collaboratively with other contractor teams to meet requirements. Required Experience: • U.S. Citizenship. • Active TS/SCI Clearance with FS Polygraph. • At least six years of relevant experience. • Proven ability to identify technical or security issues and document solutions. • Experience in managing technical requirements. • Skilled in complex problem-solving within Sponsor's infrastructure. • Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, OSX). • Experience with multiple Hypervisors (HyperV, ESX, VirtualBox). • Proficiency in Cisco OS (iOS, NexusOS), Windows Management (Active Directory, SCOM, VMM). • Experience in LAN and WAN deployments. • Knowledge in Enterprise Backup Solutions (Microsoft DPM, ArcServe Backup Suite). • Skill in managing Storage Area Networks (SAN), including design and maintenance. • Competence in network design (LAN & WAN) and disaster recovery planning. • Capability to evaluate hardware and software for technical procurement. • Experience in designing, engineering, implementing, and maintaining COTS/GOTS applications. • Familiarity with Network Monitoring Appliances. • Ability to automate administrative tasks through scripting. Desirable Skills and Knowledge: • IT system security. • Shell scripting. • SQL Server experience, knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g, MySQL. • Experience with Microsoft Windows versions and System Center. • Understanding of Storage systems (Net App, HP). • VMware ESX expertise. • Use of forensic software. • Experience with HP Servers and Blade Chassis. • Ability to provide recommendations in technical and security standards. • Experience in architecture and design reviews. • Vendor and third-party interfacing skills. • Building, configuring, and troubleshooting customized forensic workstations. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
