Duties Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list A ELECTRONICS MECHANIC LEADER, WL-2604-11, (1) Serves as a working leader of three or more Electronics Mechanic positions. Assigns work orders to specific crewmembers and selects workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Passes on to workers instructions received from the supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work. Insures that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Works along with other workers and sets pace performing non-supervisory repair work of the same kind and level as that done by the group led. Work performed by the incumbent involves diagnosis, repairs and maintenance on a variety of combat and tactical, and communication equipment. (2) Assures that there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy. Checks work in progress and when finished for compliance with supervisor's instructions, work orders, and established shop procedures on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines; and directs or advises other workers to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Interprets work instructions and assists lower graded repairers or trainees in the more difficult and complex tasks. Provides information to the supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. (3) Performs functional tests, analyzes performance and malfunctions, removes, installs, tests, maintains, modifies, performs alignments and troubleshoots the electronic, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic assemblies, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical equipment to include the M1 series main battle tank, M2/3 series Bradley fighting vehicle, Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), TOW Missile System and the ATACMS Launch Loader Module (LLM). Utilizes Integrated Family Test Equipment (IFTE), Built In Test Equipment (BITE) and break out boxes (BOB) for fault isolation, verification, or adjustment of assemblies and modules. Repairs or replaces chassis mounted components on Unit Under Test (UUT). Performs Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) operations for fault isolation on LLM electronic modules, circuit cards, and assemblies to component level. Replaces faulty components on UUT printed circuit boards and power distribution systems. Utilizes oscilloscopes, signal generators, digital multi-meters, and other test equipment to locate, diagnose, and repair malfunctions. (4) Troubleshoots and repairs launch pod/container (LP/C), trainer rocket simulator modules, Missiles/Launchers Pod Assembly (M/LPA), trainer missile simulator modules, and various like items. Troubleshoots carrier electrical and power distributions systems as an integrated subsystem of the weapon system or equipment being repaired. Isolates faulty assemblies, cables, wiring harnesses and modules to component level for repair or replacement. Insures proper integration of information between carrier, Fire Control System (FCS), vehicle and equipment hydraulic and mechanical systems, secure digital communications system, and intercommunications system. Installs equipment modifications to system per technical work orders. Performs initial and final checks and may perform inspections when required of designated systems. May act as quality assurance/control inspector for other mechanics' work. Determines deficiencies in troubleshooting procedures for the equipment being repaired and makes recommendations for corrective action to technical manuals. Performs other duties as assigned. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. * E5-CW2 MILITARY COMPATIBILITY: Upon selection, individuals will undergo a background check to validate suitability for employment with the federal government as permitted by law, regulation, Presidential order or other authority. Suitability is dependent upon the particular requirements for security clearance, sensitivity level, and DOD IT network access. Items checked include, but are not limited to all criminal history record information, employment history, education and fiscal accountability/responsibility. The individual selected must be assigned to a compatible military position and must also maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota Army National Guard. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and to assign work and monitor progress.
