Duties IT SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT) (TITLE 32), GS-2210-7/9 * Responsible for providing coordination, prioritization, and assistance to helpdesk, hardware, and network support staff provided by agency IT support. * Perform routine and recurring IT tasks identifying and resolving IT issues and problems. * Define and implement Information Assurance/classified processing programs. * Identify, evaluate, and prioritize agency IT requirements. * Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. * Performs system database management to include compilation of systems reports and overall system performance. * Performs duties of customer support services responsible for installing, troubleshooting, loading, and fine-tuning the operating system and application software, configuring the hardware, and integrating the component onto the network. * Performs other duties as assigned. *The above description only mentions a limited amount of the position's official duties. Area 2 - Current permanent or indefinite Title 5 Employees of the Oregon Air or Army National Guard. A rea 3 - Current service members in the Oregon Air or Army National Guard. GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. In addition to the OPM IORs (Alternative A) specialized experience examples, specialized experience includes experience, education, or training receiving, maintaining, and issuing data storage media for computer operations. Experience in scheduling the use of computer time for program processing. Experience collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing. Experience in at least one programming language. Translating detailed logical steps developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this required understanding of procedures and limitations appropriate to use of a programming language. Experience interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow. Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. Education To qualify off of education alone you must meet the following requirements: GS-7; full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement GS-9; master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree Undergraduate and Graduation Education Major study--computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.
