Job Title: Sr. Programmer/Analyst (COBOL)
Work Location: Fort Worth, TX (Hybrid scheduled; onsite 2 days a week; candidate's choice of which day)
Duration: 6 month contract with option to extend
Job Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to analyze and evaluate current and proposed data processing solutions to provide improved and efficient productivity for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of applications. This includes designing and developing programs that are complex components of such applications in his/her area of responsibility, and thoroughly testing and documenting new programs/changes prior to implementation. This position also provides 2nd level support for escalated issues.
Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and support programs considered as more complex components of the application in area of responsibility.
  • Assist the Applications Specialist, as required in preparing and presenting system and program design technical reviews and/or walkthroughs.
  • Mentor less senior members of the application teams.
  • Complete projects within the time schedule and efficiently handle multiple assignments.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for production applications.
  • Report the progress of assigned projects to manager and fulfill the departmental administrative reporting requirements
  • Ensure that assigned projects are thoroughly tested and documented, pass a quality assurance review and are accepted by the requestor prior to implementation.
  • Successfully adhere to department standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by manager.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external end users and suppliers regarding application problem resolution and/or system development and testing.
  • Participate in the implementation of computer systems.
  • Assist with training and education as needed for less senior member of the application teams.
  • Provide 24 x 7 on-call support for application failures and application support.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills CICS, COBOL, VSAM, z/OS, EXPEDITOR, and tools equivalent to those used at at the client (SQL, Web Services, JSON, PHP, DOCKER). TRACKMAX/MEAL TICKET and VERTEX is a PLUS.
  • Knowledge of business, 2-3 years of position experience (Food Distribution Background is a PLUS)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (8-10 years)
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
