Information Technology Specialist

Duties * Provide software engineering support for applications. * Provide post development customer support for applications, serving as a point of contact to address various issues such as augmentation, maintenance, and problem resolution. * Develop software programs, assures optimum equipment utilization, achieves functional goals, and enhances program maintenance. * Ensure that all recommendations for hardware and software requirements are cost effective and efficient. * Perform formalized application analysis and assessments in customer organizations, to provide increased effectiveness of the customer in performing their mission. * Analyze and evaluates workplace automation requirements for integration into a Remedy based business system. * Develop recommendations for Web-based application development to satisfy customer requirements, utilizing formalized life cycle design methodologies. * Search and maintain liaison with manufacturers, professional organizations, and counterparts at other activities regarding available hardware/software products and state-of-the-art technologies and techniques. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Three year trial/probationary period may be required. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment. * This position is designated as Key. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: GG-7: assisting in providing customer support to serviced organizations; assisting in the analysis and/or assessment of customers' application needs; and assisting in testing applications and operating systems when patches are required. GS-9: assisting in the testing of software programs before applying in the operational software; assisting in the development of software programs; and providing application customer support to serviced organizations. GG-11: providing software engineering support for applications, software programs, or utilities in a multi-level computing environment; performing application analysis and/or assessments in customer organizations; and generating recommendations for application development to meet customer needs. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: identifying and solving problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives; recognizing and taking action to address non-routine problems; soliciting feedback from multiple stakeholders to understand an issue or problem and accurately assess its root causes and potential solutions; seeking supervisory review where appropriate. Education GG-07 Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate level education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. OR Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
