Duties * You will provide daily operational support for Information Technology infrastructure. * You will develop expertise and prepare instructions to train users on new technologies. * You will work with Systems/Network Administrators to maintain and support the networks, storage devices, physical and virtual environment. * You will act as a first line supervisor for network services or for operating system, application, database and web administration for all systems and servers. * You will plan work and prepare performance plans covering work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short- term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. * You will use networking concepts and protocols, and security methodologies, for traditional systems as well as special purpose systems. * You will manage network support in a classified or unclassified environment to ensure continuous system operations. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 802 level Basic (B) within 12 months of appointment. * You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. You will be subject to random testing. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13/14) grade level or pay band (NM-04) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13/14) or pay band (NM-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Overseeing Information Technology acquisition, deployment and management of Information Systems for multiple networks across multiple distant sites; 2) Ensuring effective and efficient maintenance and operations workflow to help improve the availability and performance of systems; 3) Monitoring all systems/networks and assisting to resolve complex issues in system/network software and hardware; 4) Maintaining oversight of all routers, firewalls, switches, boundary authentication devices, wireless and physical cable plants; and 5) Collaborating with all levels of personnel to foster and facilitate integration of IT solution principals and methods into all aspects of the customer's IT/CS operations.
