ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Duties * You will be responsible for overseeing the installation, inspection, and testing of mechanical features and systems installed. * You will provide support in the areas of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, chilled water, steam, hot water, compressed air, and industrial control systems. * You will resolve complex engineering and construction problems encountered during construction. * You will develop studies, plans and specifications for both new construction and the rehabilitation and upgrade of existing mechanical systems. * You will review proposals for sound mechanical engineering practices and conformance with established criteria and recommend approval or disapproval. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing, studying, and calculating solutions for problems connected with a HVAC systems; 2) Preparing requisite scopes, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates related to planning, design of facility mechanical systems; 3) Collecting data from field investigations for reports by determining the condition of existing facility systems to propose improvement or restoring services within command facilities; 4) Consulting in the implementation of construction projects and construction qualify control involving complex mechanical facilities; 5) Providing highly technical mechanical support during various stages of the design/construction process; 6) Evaluating operation manuals, equipment warranties, and material certifications submitted by the contractor for contract and performance requirements in order to recommend approval or rejection.
